I got 3 nephews ranging from 8 to 13 years old. Apart from sending them to different tuition center I will also subscribe them to various camps/programs during their school holiday. One of the major one is Education Camp and required to stay 2 days 1 night in order to train them both physically and mentally independent.
I specifically look for those courses that can indulge their independency and interactivity. So far my sister is satisfied with the result from the program as they are all self-dependant. I hope in future there are more similar Summer Program that is just not having fun but also able to instruct the children to apply in daily activities.
